REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS.

You can cancel a Stripe-managed NowFiction membership at any time from Billing & Membership. Unless a statutory cancellation or other refund right applies, cancellation stops future renewal and your paid membership remains active until the end of the current billing period.

If you change your mind before the end of that period, the available Billing & Membership controls may allow you to resume the membership before it expires.

If you are a UK consumer and buy a NowFiction membership online, you normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days after the day the contract is entered into, subject to the applicable legal rules and exceptions.

Before starting a new membership, NowFiction asks you to expressly request that membership access and benefits begin immediately. If you cancel during an applicable 14-day period after making that request, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the service already supplied where the law permits.

To exercise a cooling-off right, contact hello@nowfiction.com or use the refund request route in Billing & Membership. You do not need to use any particular wording: tell us clearly that you want to cancel and provide enough information to identify the membership.

Memberships renew automatically at the billing interval and price shown before checkout unless you cancel before the next renewal.

Outside any legal cancellation or refund right, subscription renewals are normally non-refundable once a new billing period has begun. As an additional NowFiction policy, if a membership renews unexpectedly you can contact us within 7 days of the renewal. We will normally approve a refund where the renewed period has not been materially used. This additional policy does not reduce any statutory rights you may have.

If an existing membership price changes, we will provide any notice required by law before the new price is charged.

A paid contest entry costs the amount shown before checkout. Once payment has been completed and the story has been successfully submitted to the contest, the contest-entry service is treated as supplied and the entry fee is normally non-refundable.

Where consumer law gives you a cancellation right, this policy does not remove it. The checkout or submission process may ask you to request immediate processing of your contest entry and acknowledge the effect that completion of the service may have on any applicable cancellation right.

If payment is taken but your story cannot be submitted because of a NowFiction technical failure, we will either restore the contest entry or refund the payment. Duplicate or incorrect charges will also be refunded.

Withdrawing a successfully submitted story, deleting it from your profile, or becoming ineligible because the entry does not comply with the Contest Rules does not normally create a right to a refund, except where required by law.

Approved Stripe refunds are returned to the original payment method unless applicable law requires another method. Bank and card processing times can vary after Stripe has issued the refund.

Where consumer law requires a refund within a particular period, we will follow that requirement. We do not charge a refund administration fee.

Nothing in this policy limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights relating to services that are not supplied with reasonable care and skill, or digital services that are faulty or materially misdescribed.

If there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory consumer-law right, the mandatory right applies.
